Hey all,

I was excited to pick this all up at an estate sale for $9 this morning. I would imagine they are fairly uncommon, as I have not seen one aside from in catalogs. Figured I'd share a few pictures. Number 2056, date code identifies as 1936.

Four sets of jaws,
4056L
4056J
4066 (thick older style)
4066 (thinner, newer style)

4001-R (Ford adaptor ring for 4001 wheel puller)

Curious if anyone has the yolk for a 3 leg gear puller they'd be willing to sell, as I now have four sets of jaws without a yolk.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks guys, yeah, I got lucky. One of those "hoarders" that sweeps everything into buckets and buys everything was on the list right before me. There were other nice items as well, but this is all I was able to snag... there are 6 people in his family and they all grab everything they can... luckily they usually pass over anything on which the brand is not easily distinguishable. I know where he sells, though, so I'll just hit him up over the weekend.

I have the same plomb puller, mine is a little older than yours, but I don't have all of the jaws that you have. I would like to pick up a few attachments for mine, it is a very handy tool.

Well Done! It's unusual to see an old puller set that is complete; normally they're missing at least a few of the arms.

I have had to borrow this type of puller in the past for axle work and such. I am glad to have one. Unfortunately, it is missing just one part. The small cross bar that goes through the hole at the top... I searched all over the garage for it, but to no avail. I was looking through one Plomb's catalogs from the mid 40's and they have a "comfort grip" hammer, different attachment tips, and other accessories. Hopefully I'll eventually run across some of these items.

On a side note, I ran across this neat adaptor a few weeks back. It's part number 5655... 5/8ths female to 3/4 male. I don't think Plomb made too much 5/8ths stuff.

Yes, several of the well known manufacturers made odd-sized drives as the industry was in the process of selecting 1/2", 3/8 and 1/4" as the standard sizes. It's not uncommon to see Snap-on and Plomb 9/32" drive tools for sale on this board. Last fall I picked up a Snap-on 5/8" drive extension from the 20's.

However, I'm surprised to see a Plomb Los Angeles 5/8" drive piece; I assumed the 5/8" stuff was out of production by the mid-late 30's.

Nice find.

Yep, I knew Snap On made the 5/8ths size, but wasn't aware that Plomb made a few adaptors as well. Though, in their 1936 catalog, that part is listed by the same number. Guess they must have made a few of them! That Snap On from the 20's is a great find!

Is that the yoke you're looking for? Sorry, I'm a little confused, the puller looks complete but I could see where having 3 more of those yokes to hold the jaw sets as a unit would be nice and make for quicker switches.

By the way, You ****!

Nice score!
