All in good fun. That's one damn fine box! On a serious note isnt that the top that can stack on the tool mobile cart? I have never saw a picture of both together.

As far as the keys....Im not a P&C collector....just seeing if you were actually interested in it. Its just taking up space in my key box.

Very cool. It dosn't look like the ones in the 1936, 1946 Plomb or the 49 Proto catalogs. Maybe military? I like it!

Can't really tell but yours looks to be the very rare LARGE top box. Plomb top boxes were made in 3 different sizes. The large boxes I have seen have had a sort of a green textured finish on them so I would suppose yours to be repainted.

Wasnt me....I have a Tool Mobile....wife would kill me if I picked up another. Besides I'm rebuilding a crashed RC heli, and have another half built. I switched spending $$$ on tools this month to heli parts.

I just bought a bottom roller and came on here to find some pics so I could fab a lock strap. I had no idea how rare it was. Can anybody help me out with the top chest? No markings at all, but it came with the roller.

This fellow hasn't been on since September, which is too bad. Looks like he has the same box I do, and his is allowing me to see that white stripes seem to be part of the original scheme.

I wonder if he ever got the locking bar squared away?

Jabber - you merit a a first-class "you ****"! I've never seen one of those. For God's sake get it out of the rain!

Those fleabay prices are astronomical. Even if that last box is in "original" condition, it ain't worth $1200.

The stripes are original.

I feel so left out. I'm the Plomb guy and I don't have a roller cab or top box. Never had an opportunity to get one.

I am new to this forum. I have a late 1940's (approximately), Plomb bench top tool chest. It is a very dark red color and was purchased by my father who was a Ford mechanic after the war. Anyone know what year this model would have been available?

Welcome David! Let me be the first to say... post some pictures!!!

There are a few Plomb catalogs available online. You may want to see if you can spot yours.

Check here:
http://bartlettstreet.com/toolcatalogs/

Thanks for the welcome and for the info. I will post a picture within the next week. I am cleaning out my father's garage which is quite some distance from me. Probably not interested in selling it as it has some sentimental value.

Nice! Do you have any Plomb tools from your father?
I have six Plomb wrenches that belonged to my wife's father which was the start of my collection. I can certainly understand the sentimental value you place on that box.

I did not see any plomb tools, mostly Snap-On, Proto and Craftsman. Next week I'll be going through it to determine what is there. Most of the older tools have seen extensive use and are worn, such as Snap-On sockets from the early 50's.

Good hearing you are enjoying the tools from your fore-bearers. Have you seen my collection handed down to me in the Plomb thread?

Hello, hello,

I just came upon this yesterday. It's about 18" long and the blade is 1 1/8" wide. Can't find any info on it anywhere, but the "O" is circular.... Anybody know how much it's worth?
