Beat me to it. I had an offer out and it sold before he accepted. LOL
My wife encouraged me to go for it so I didn’t waste any time!
Maybe the lawsuit was prompted by can opener’s.

-plumb getting irritated because people keep making can opener jokes to them. They keep having to defend their name and say, it’s not our company who is making can openers, it’s those other upstarts. We make hammers and striking tools, they make whatever they feel like 🙄😱. Till finally they had enough and decided to “open a can” through legal proceedings 😳.

But seriously this item is super cool and I want one. This is even more odd than the weeding tool. No one sees this coming. Not only am I irritating picking partners with my incessant file hilt viewing to see if it’s a plomb file but now I have to also go through the kitchen to view can openers?🤔
We always check out the kitchen at any estate sale, usually after checking the garage. We have found quite a few collectible tools in kitchen ”junk drawers”. One month we found green plastic covered handle Diamond adjustable wrenches at two different sales. 🙂

There is a Plomb puller on eBay at $306, four more days to go.
I think I bought something from that guy before and it was good so I don't really want to trash his auction but.... but I don't know where he's getting "very good condition" and "you won't find a nicer box". To seller's credit the pictures are good. 2 MAJOR cracks and missing hardware.

Mine is cracked but puller parts are all nice. His lettering is pretty dark but he may have sharpied it

Makes ya wonder....
I know this isn't what you meant, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover, vis-a-vis @mritchie77 's wonderful late wartime 'Newsletters' thread, that Plomb was making the blades for a California fruit company's fruit processing machines, and had been for quite some time. I would still characterize these as small side-hustles, but admirable.

I mean that fits. I know Plomb said to contact them about making custom applications.. they might have made quite a bit of other odd ball stuff. Surely there were some gas station give away type stuff...

I'm not seeing either of the hasps that would keep the box closed. in the 4th to last picture I see two empty hinges.
Ahh! I thought you meant with the tool, and expected you to mention the spring clips, which came along a lot later. Box is not important to me.

Nice challenger series box!
It looks like that to me too. It might be a bit of a Challenge to fill it with 1940 tools but having the box is a start. Here is a set put together by my collector buddy in Wales, UK.

I am working on mine as well and still need a few sockets and a hinge handle. I would be certainly willing to have some flex on the dates as well! I still need 3/8, 1/2, 11/16 and the hinge handle.

** speaking of spares, I do have an OC dated 7/16 if someone needs it? It does have some grinding on the outer edge closest to the nut**

I’m not sure but I believe that my printer has a setting that allows printing at a percentage of the original. This is absolutely not my area of expertise but hopefully others can make suggestions. These should be smaller.

In 2022 I was able to put together a complete combo wrench set. Hopefully in 2023 I can add some of the DOEs and DBEs to the collection!

I also found out the list of DBEs and DOEs is quite longer than combos
Yes, frustrating as it can be, that’s the truth. Plus there was a lot of sizes that you could mix and match to put together a custom set of wrenches to your specifications/use. Unlike other brands where the sizes were sequential and logical, plomb offered a wide variety of mix and match.

@honza.vosalik throw a list of your needs up. Just speaking for myself (with the assumption that the following holds true for many others) I've got lots of doubles/triples that may fill some of the holes in your sets.

Best regards,
John

Thanks was an interesting experience. Who would have thought just shrinking an image would be problematic, but then again I'm not exactly a graphic artist!

Not just any Paschall can opener, its gotta be the Dual Marker Trans Can Opener : ) heck who am I kiddin... Get both!
My can opener arrived today and much to my surprise it is one of the dual marked ones. This is one time that I’m happy that the item didn’t match the picture BFCBFC84-AA13-4F90-B49E-1ACA3927D523.jpeg9A07A952-FE96-4C48-AD95-E298AE73CEB8.jpegC1EE9DD9-3E92-41AB-8314-25366759D073.jpeg
