I played with acetone.

I don't think anyone ever wrote a number there.also surprised at the lustre and sparkle of the sticker, it's quality and durability far exceed both subsequent layers of paint. :p

Awhile back in the garage sale thread I reported this find, and shortly after I got it unloaded, the neighboring town went underwater, and the freeway bridge that makes the shop a 5 minute drive was damaged. Tondo my part, I stayed well clear of the traffic cluster#@@% that created, so now they have it fixed.

If you look close, you can tell the back of the forward handle on the body file is significantly skewed right. The threaded part is bent.

With the handle removed you can see it's sad state.

To preserve the threads and maintain some control of where the bend will happen, I find wood works pretty well. So I set up my bend and made a few pulls of the HF 12 ton. Soft 2x4 cradles the threads, harder pallet wood focuses the bend.

Good enough for a mature hour.

Then I put a nice arc in it and found out I'll need longer hardware or a helicoil for the back screw. Oh well at least the handle looks pretty straight.

I received a couple of Plomb items in the mail today. First is an early pebble 1/4” drive ratchet that had USN engraved on it. That may have reduced it’s appeal to most eBay buyers but not to me. The ratchet works well.IMG_8391.jpegIMG_8394.jpegIMG_8395.jpeg
Next was four boxes of sealed NOS NAF 3/8” drive 13/16” sockets. The seller apparently has plenty of these and they were priced low enough that I couldn’t resist them. I’ll probably pass along a box to my tool collecting counterpart in Wales, UK. If anyone is interested in owning a piece of WW2 Navy history I may unseal one box.

Did some horse trading with @d42jeep today and was able to swap out some wartime pieces with some chrome-pebble pieces that I needed for my master veteran's set.

That got me thinking, I've got this 1/2" pebble ratchet that is bare steel. I believe it to be wartime. Does anyone have a later "mfd. in USA" chromed ratchet they would want to trade?

Mine:

I'm looking to trade for:

. Unfortunately, they are kind of snowed in at the moment.20230309_153907.jpeg
my BIL’s place in Echo lake looked like that, before March, when he snow shoed in and took several feet off the roof. Like yours, he wasn’t worried about falling off the roof, only two feet to the snow level.

Whenever the record snow finishes melting. I’m hoping for the end of May. My great nephew took snow off the flat roof of an outbuilding I was worried about collapsing. It looked like a large snow cone.20230303_145700.jpeg20230303_145648.jpeg
It is finally starting to melt but the driveway is still pretty deep.

I could definitely live like that. But my wife couldn't. Great.

I traded my 3061 doe pebble a few years back to Roy to help him complete his pebble doe set. Ever since then I have been hunting for another. These don’t pop up every day. I offered $23 and the seller accepted! Needless to say I’m pumped

The original price was good too! I've learned that if I really want something, not to wait and offer. I lost a Plomb can opener to @d42jeep earlier this year when I made and offer and he did a BIN. LOL

I’m not brave enough to try mine.

You would be cooler if you tried 😂👍

You use the tip to punch down through the tin next to the lip. Then you shove the whole blade down in. Next you use the bracket on the side of the head and lock the groove onto the edge of the can. Pry up and work your way around the can.

Is that in some Plomb literature? First time hearing that Smoke. I haven’t read the Plomb stuff out there.
I was told this by another prominent member. I wasn’t aware of their existence until I saw one about a month ago. So to answer your question I’m not sure what documentation there is on this subject
