Went to the steam up today and picked up this dual mark panel today #40B. Oregon Rock Crusher was nice enough to spot it and secure it prior to my arrival! It's had a rough life but its dual mark so I'm really happy to get it , especially at the paltry price I paid! As you can see it was a victim of the rebranding campaign at some point but the sticker has since came off over the years. ORC said the seller said when he put it into his barn it was in really nice shape but as you can see the years (or prior owner) haven't been the kindest but I know I can revive it quite a bit.

I know this is funny! Same layout as the one I sent you. Just has a different logo obviously but this is now the 3rd puller board I’ve owned but it’s sticking around due to the short lived logo

My difficult to find Plomb 1/2” drive ell handle arrived In the mail yesterday as part of a Plomb lot from an eBay seller. Here are all of the pieces in the lot.

The ell handle will be heading for my Plomb based GMTK. I believe there is a poorly struck 1940 date next to the Plomb marking. Less than ten examples of these have been found world wide. They have no part numbers and aren’t shown in any catalog.
I was happy to see a dual marked 13/16” socket included with the other tools.

The 1 “ chrome plated socket wasn’t in bad condition. It was stamped with a BB mystery code.



I cleaned up the chrome plated 3040 DOE wrench with previous owners markings. The codes on this one looked to be a poorly struck AB.


Two different styles of WF-38 ratchets were included. Any of the WF tools/pieces including the speeder are available for trade.

A question for all you Plomb/Proto experts - is this newly-acquired ratchet a hybrid? - a Plomb body with a Proto Los Angeles mechanism.
Was it made like this? Or did someone put two ratchets together?
I'm aware that Plomb became Proto.
(For all I know, this is a dumb question that everyone should know the answer to. I ask a lot of dumb questions.)

2 ratchets that were combined. The dual marked ones had plvmb/prvtv stamped on the shank.

May have been a Proto repair kit and whoever did it used the kit plate.

Here is my favorite from the Plomb Mega Haul.
I had been looking for an example of one of these for years.
A double end pin handle socket wrench (say that 5 times fast)


Also picked up this early ALAM garage wrench!
So nice they stamped it twice

I believe Firestone farmed out to many manufacturers. Their open end and combination wrenches are not Plomb manufactured.

One of the Plomb items that came with my Ell handle was this WF-38 1/2” drive ratchet missing a screw and the detent piece and spring. The remaining screw was so damaged that I was forced to drill off the head to get it apart.
Once disassembled, I cleaned it up.

I have spare screws in the Bay Area to get it working again. I have seen a correct size ball bearing used with a spring in place of the missing detent so I may try that. I have a rusty non WF 5449 1940 version of this ratchet so this one may end up being used as a parts donor.

Picked up this 5449-S female ratchet. Also is stamped with B-202582 as well. I seen a similar 3/4" drive show up a few years back. Anyone know what the B-202582 stamping could mean? @Private Lugnutz ?

A 1940 WF! Very nice! It seems the rarer WF tools such as the larger DBEs seem to only have the 1939-1941 stamping scheme.
Overall nice pick up!

I don't recognize that, Roy, as a military or commercial part or stock number. But it looks customer to me.
