Missing the 1/4" combo to make a set from 1/4" to 1" and the 5/16" isn't a pebble.
The DR8 ratchet above is probably my oldest Plomb tool, circa late-1920s. Behind it is a 5451 from 1937....
Did Plomb make a 1/4" combo wrench? I've seen Proto ones, but never a Plomb and they're not in any catalog I've seen. That doesn't mean a whole lot, though.
I've got a DR8 ratchet and a DD9-1/2 socket (19/32) to go with it, but alas no drive plug. I wonder what the likelihood is of ever finding one orphaned.
How does the 5451 ratchet differ from the 5449?
Those flare nut wrenches are sweet. Wish they still made them.
Red boxes, green boxes...and the green may separate into greenish green versus olive drab/green.
Does anyone have a timeline on Plomb box colors??
Green boxes came before red boxes.
I think red boxes are post-war only.
I've only seen the OD green used on certain box styles, not across the broad line. Not saying it wasn't used on all styles, just that I've seen far more "greenish green" Plomb boxes than OD green.
Have you ever seen a Green Toolmobile?
even if some fool had painted it lime green or orange or yellow or pink. Nice. Same decal that is on my box (pictured in post #1)Sticker that was in a Plomb collection from Mississippi:
I can just picture the king working on his own car with this set while knocking back a couple of cold ones.![]()

I'm just a few pieces shy of 300 and I need to get new pictures.
In the mean time, here's a picture of my 3018 pebble. Too bad the po focked-up the 1/4" end! I've never seen another 3018 pebble. Anyone else have one?
Other rare(?) pieces I have are a WF-2, a couple pebble-less pebble-style wrenches, a 5297 3/8" socket rack, and a 5497 1/2"socket rack.

Nice box. Even though the catalog looks like trim, I have never seen bumpers top and bottom only paint stripes on the toolmobiles. Frank, I have a 3018 but agree with you they are very rare. I still need to find a 3070.
I still need to find a 3070.

The ratchet is so smooth and quiet, Feels like new.
Anyone have a guess to its age?
