RAG: it looks like maybe the lock's latch isn't there and not sure if that's welds, but you'll be able to tell in person. my drawers don't work the best so i need to do some work on them. i can tell you that box might weigh 60+ pounds so lift with your legs.

good luck

SMOKE: here's a few of the meals we ate at Wildflower last year when we were in Lincoln City. i think in 4 days i had 2.5 merion berry cobblers and both my wife and I gained about 4 pounds that trip. the owner is a great cook and she said she NEVER GOES OUT TO SEE THE OCEAN which is a bit odd to me, but i love her cookin.

making my mouth water just thinking about it.

cheers

I love that place! I can see you where eating on the back patio  My wife and I love going there and eating on the patio when it is rainy and looking out onto the little lake that is back there.

In terms of the box, it looks in decent shape but may be worth $200 ??? I see less of those than tool mobiles at least in my ebay travels as far as I can remember. I would offer the guy $150 and maybe come up a little as the box looks non rusty but in need of a restoration! Keep us posted.

I found a Calif Tool, A Plomb marked flare nut wrench at an estate sale yesterday. This is the second one that I've found.

Not trying to troll this thread but I just posted in the classifieds all my extra plvmb, proto and p&c tools... This also includes the stickers I made... Prices are way below eBay on this stuff. Just trying to help it find new homes !

I forgot to tell you guys, he wanted $300 for the top box only! So I didn't drive the extra hour to go look at it. Maybe hell come down off the price in another month of sitting on it. Made a pretty good score at Trade Days though.

RAG: if you put in your location sometimes you might get something PM'd to you that you'd like to buy that another member might not to put up on a thread. i'm not saying i'll sell you my top Plvmb box but i like the smaller one better for my use so if i find one my bigger one might need a new home.

cheers

These are my favorite style sockets that I have in my tool collection. Anerican quality at it's finest. I think I may need to start collecting a set. I have quite a few brands that don't do much for me but I see some people love them.

That chrome plated?!?!

Not my socket, but that WF socket would have been plain steel, or cadmium plated. That looks highly polished to me. Makes it look sharp though.

Picked this up today from the flea. I just couldn't leave it behind.
Plomb #5849 1in drive ratchet with and Armstrong Armaloy drive plug. Works great!

And for grins, here it is with the 1/4in drive version.

Scored a couple of trades in exchange for some things I had in the classifieds... Scored a nice proto metal box and a cool plvmb rivet setter. I have never seen one of these setters and can't find much about it on line but it will be placed into the collection for use if needed :)

Smokeshow, does that rivet tool have two positions on the working end, one being a hole and the other a recess to form the shop head of the rivet? If so, it is like the one we had when I was a kid. My dad used it for repairing leather harness with copper rivets.

Yes it does! I don't know how much I will use it but it filled an empty spot in the collection and when i would need it, it could really be handy!

Thanks! It was one of the last items I purchased before I left the flea. That ratchet was too big to fit into my bag, so I had to carry it out. On my way out, I was stopped by half a dozen guys asking me what I had!

haha awesome I bet! saw a 1" Proto at the trade days but I was on a Plomb gathering mission! They have it once a month, next one is Mar 11, 12. Cant wait I'm gonna take a whole day to go.

Here's a wrench I pulled out of the junk drawer earlier today. I think this is the only A. Plomb marked wrench I've got. Not stamped very straight. Ed.

Ed, your wrench was made by Alphonase Plomb after he left Plomb Tool in 1917. He sold out this business in 1927, and all further tools it made were stamped California Tool Company. So your wrench was made during those ten years, and is not from the more common Plomb brand!

A small batch of stuff from a large batch of stuff I purchased. I needed two of the sockets for my set and am happy to have found an uncommon 1 3/16" socket. The 3/8" to 1/4" adapter appears early.

Thanks for the information Provincial. I put the A. Plomb wrench in the Plomb box with it's "half" brothers. Ed.

Holy ****...I finally found some. These came from a sale that the folks were being moved to an assisted living place. One of the guys there said they belonged to his uncle who brought them back to Ohio, he had lived in California for awhile after the war.
I've looked in every tool pile for a year and these are all I've come across. An incomplete set but very happy nonetheless.

What's your reference for the 1927 date? Note that he and his son are both listed in the LA city directory as toolmakers into the '40s. They appeared to be working out of his house. I also found a possible reference to the partners selling out Plomb in 1909.....

Hey Garage&Beer -

I likely have a speeder (I seem to accumulate plomb speeders) to help you fill out that set - let me know if you're interested in a horse trade.

I had no idea it existed until it fell into my lap. There is some irony in that I have been diligently looking for a 1 3/16" from S-K to finish my set. Didn't know I needed this Plomb!
