Agreed, Don. In all drive sizes. The WF-21 version shows up on lots of Ma Bell swages and cranks, and even marked Proto later, as has been discussed in a number of threads, including right here. I had one of the WF-8 S 1/4-inch versions. Everything but the drive plug is the same. I forget who has it now. Might be tin medic. :)
I agree too, especially since I have Proto versions.

Why is it that almost everytime I dig through a box or bucket of tools at the flea market and finally see the unmistakable look of a Plomb DBE that it turns out to be a WF-84?! I don't know how many of those I've "rescued" but for the first time today I left one behind and didn't even ask what they wanted!

Picked up not one but two Proto L.A. J.P. Danielson-made 706-S 6" adjustables today at the flea market. A 1950 and a 1955.

I went through ALL (or most) of my 1/4" parts looking for a 4766 pebble. I do not have one. It was quite a disappointing chore to go through all of them with negative results. The boxes are two deep in the picture.

I found a few Plomb and Proto tools at an estate sale in Antioch, CA this morning. Since I don’t collect WF tools I frequently find them and today was no different. At least the WF21 is 3/8” drive. I also found my first ever S.R. socket.

Big one is a 9714 Plomb, 22 1/2" with chunk missing from handle. Others Proto, a couple Los Angeles. Any suggestions for the 9714 besides the trash? Patch it with ??? Tis a shame.

I wouldn't toss it. Might be able to glue in a piece of wood or build up the missing material with epoxy putty.

I agree with Tym. I wouldn't toss it either. I bet someone on here has had to replace one of these before. Do you have access to someone with a wood lathe? I've never tried to do it, but think you could shape a replacement handle, drill it out and be back good as new again.

I'll keep a watch out for your missing hinge handles 48548. I've seen a fair number of 4766 but very few of the 5266's. I transposed a number on the above post there should only be a 5868 1" breaker "if they actually made one".

Great group of hinge handles and ratchets you have 48548. Also nice to see all these Plomb and Firestone 1/4" pebbles showing up. Yours looks good sitting on that largish Proto socket too ssdave. I'm sure there are plenty more baby pebbles to be found. Ed.
