Plomb tool picture thread - show your stuff!

I never imagined I would have anything to show in this thread, but made a surprising discovery, in my own tool box, the small carry one that goes everywhere for small in-field and road-side repairs..
My 3/8" drive universal joint is a PLVMB WF - 24
There are two little 'Plomb Bob' arrows either side of the word 'PLOMB', the one in front points downwards and the one behind points upwards.
It has faint traces of the remains of a grey finish on the steel mostly worn off.
I presume this was made as a 'special' for Wright Field contract, but I have no idea where I got it from!

Cadmium-plating. Not sure what you mean by "special", but it was part of over a hundred Wright Field contract tools, socket drive and wrenches, all numbered with the WF- prefix.

Thanks Lugz. Nice to have confirmation that it was Wright Field contract. I don't know what I do mean by 'special'! Ha, I suppose it's not actually 'special' at all as a 3/8" universal was undoubtedly made as part of the normal catalogue range. I should have described it as 'contract'.
It's undoubtedly of very good quality, as evidenced by surviving around 50 years use on the farm, and especially as UJ's are well known to break easily.

That universal probably came across the sea to work on airplanes during WWII.

I wonder how many American sized sockets were thrown out when they wouldn't fit Whitworth or British Standard fasteners?

I have a few transition tools, but this is my first "L" type DOE which also happens to be a transition piece. 1120-L 5/16" X 3/8" is 7 3/8" long vs 4 1/4" long for the standard 1120. I can find the "L" DOE's in the 1954 Proto catalog, but don't see them in any of the earlier Plomb catalogs.

Update on my proto top chest 9997- I posted it all polished but there was some adhesive still on the lid from a huge sticker. I tried brake clean and a plastic razor blade and some heat gun. Nothing worked and I was going to leave it but it was bugging me. My brother suggested pure lemon extract which is in the cooking section at the store. I had to coat it and scrape it 3 times but it is gone ! Was about $4 for the bottle. I did not try any goof off but that was going to be my next shot.

That's funny. They are the same length as the offset style wrenches. Never noticed that.

And, if you look on the general tool board at the Proto L wrench thread, you'll find that the 12xx series wrenches are the same length as the 12xx-L, at least in the overlapping examples I have......

That scraper is super cool ! Can’t imagine there are too many wood handle scrapers left out there. Nice finds !

Those ratchets were a real good deal. I was seriously looking at them but went with something else. It hasn't arrived but I am super excited for when it does. I will post up some pics.

Well I am super excited for this one.

If you search Proto wood, there are a few NOS handles on the bay right now. Not sure of the size you need.

I had looked, and they were too small. I have a correct size red handle one in my stuff, will probably just use it though it's not right for that earlier Proto LA.
