Had to work for my supper tonight, but found this overlooked in the bottom of a toolbox full of mostly ****. Ironically found two crusty Sacagawea dollar coins among a small pile of centavos which I turned over to the hispanic woman selling the tools, and she graciously applied them to my total purchase.

You ****! Not very easy to find

I have the fine folks and Plomb afficianados here to thank, for having shared previous pics of that red grooved handle on screwdrivers, which made picking it out of a crowd of pretenders possible.

Glad to say it's soon to arrive at a more fitting home than mine.

How did you get my address and mail it so quickly? [emoji23]

Yesterday I picked up a couple more, already had a few of the 240 pliers, but these were really nice. I also picked up the smaller brother to the 3045-S Industrial Finish wrench shown a few posts up, 3040-S DOE from 1940.

Nice picks. I have yet to solve the pliers timeline. What do the grips look like?

while digging thru half a dozen "misc" tool boxes searching for an old brass maker's plate I liberated from an abandoned subway grate i came across these sort of unusual suffixes and date codes including some 42's

Plain, very very plain. I have another of the 240 pliers, but with the "Name Nurl" handles.
Nice. There seems to be 4 distinct styles. The LA grips, smooth, name knurled, and J.P. Danielson

Yesterday I did a little horse trading with SmokeShow and recouped this box. I had originally found it about a year ago, right in Rileysan and SmokeSnows back yard, for a ridiculous price. But, being the idiot that I am, I traded it to Smoke for a Proto flying lady six-drawer top box. I had another 9989, a little newer, and hadn't figured out what to do with two of them. Well, about an hour after our trade I felt like an idiot for letting it slip through my fingers. So, I schemed to get it back. It was costly to me (a Heritage 10 drawer top box and 8 drawer roller) but he wanted those so badly he could taste them, and he new what I wanted...

So, without further ado, I present, The Box!

I am already regretting trading it back to you but I knew how bad you wanted it. Hopefully one day I will find another! I sure am happy with my new heritage stack!

Yeppers. Adapter holder. I found out that LAs have a slighter larger OD measurement than their 40s counterpart. Might have to modify a couple hole sizes for the LA one.
Now I just have to fill it!

Have an extension one cut as well.IMG_20200728_175128431.jpegIMG_20200728_175116458.jpegIMG_20200728_175134727.jpegIMG_20200728_175137901.jpeg

Here is the only Plomb tool I found at a tool sale yesterday. It seems to be a quite early 3/8” drive extension.

Does it have a 52xx part number? Looks to be 1931? Nice find!

What we have here is the ever elusive smooth pebble finish cross bread[emoji38]. The forging process must has been a little off for this 44XXX series DOE.IMG_20200729_180656301.jpegIMG_20200729_180701376.jpegIMG_20200729_180703275.jpeg

Here is the extension rack I made. It has a crude mount right now. As you can see the stubbies sizes are hard to find! Only 4 left to go on the 42-49. IMG_20200729_191934446.jpegIMG_20200729_192943534.jpeg

When you get tired of your Heritage (& Crown top) stack, I've got a 9990 I can trade to you!

That is a good start [emoji23] it would take a Proto la tool mobile and top chest stack to pry this craftsman stack out of my grips [emoji41]IMG_0763.JPG
