I will have a photo up soon of the Plomb 1151 DBE wrench I got yesterday. I believe it is CAD or non Chrome. I tried to find a tiny letter code. Is there a way to put an era on this piece?

It has very distinct tooling marks along the edges of the end rings. Very smooth and unfinished, but appear factory made.

Cheers,

Shawn

Pardon the low quality photos.... getting a new phone very soon!

The 1151 has a "C• • • •" : A letter C with 4 small dots to the right.

It also has a distinct beve/forgedl like edge on the one side as depicted in the shot with the grooved end.

If this is just your bread and butter, one of a zillion 1151s bear with me as I'm just starting to learn about the markings and history of vintage hand tools.

Thanks for any input !

Shawn

Smoke, what’s the size on the large ones?

The bigguns are 7.25 wide by 2.5 tall... the smaller guys are 4 wide by 1.5 tall... after I figure out how many are needed for my boards, i will probably offer the extras on here. To my knowledge, no one has reproduced these aside from me...there are some great ones on ebay but not of these logos

Look what showed up in the mail today [emoji41] wonder where these should be placed? Perhaps on some tool boards?

Looks like you have a great start on your tool boards Smoke. Good to see you made another batch of repro stickers. I have one from your first batch and it inspired be to build a board just so I had a spot to put it. I thought it was the perfect Plomb logo to finish off my pebble assortment board. Ed.

Thanks Ed! I enjoy this kind of detailed work. That board you built is fantastic!

Re: ~ Plomb tool picture thread - show your stuff!

I looked and it was a P&C not a plomb, I guess I don't have that one
Thanks for checking! There are really hard to come by in the larger sizes I have found.

So I’m slowly chiseling away at a complete set of midget tools. I got a package from Don today that put me closer so I figured it was time for a progress shot. I count 34 unique 47xx part numbers plus the other tools. I’m down to the more rare (and expensive) pieces now.

You are making great progress! Some of those pieces are not easy to find

You're on the back stretch hitting the final turn for home, Dan.

I picked up these 3/4-inch drive ringers this morning at the flea market. They were in a mixed (Williams, Armstrong, Snap-on) miscellaneous lot of 3/4-inch drive tools, no other PLOMB LA in sight.

Smoke, I will need decals for all the boards that had Proto Professional decals on them. The move from cold Colorado to hot and humid Texas was to much of a shock to their system and they came apart. Just going to replace them with Plomb decals.

Sweet mother of all tool board hoards[emoji15] very nice collection! It isn’t common to find that many in one spot. Did you score those locally or where they shipped?

I actually picked these up in Dec of 2018. I got these from the gentleman outside of St. Louis that had listed them here. I drove out to get them so I could look through his other stuff as well. I can't remember if I posted them here or not.

Thanks on the encouragement guys...

Here’s my plomb finds from an estate sale this morning. Most of it is pretty common, but there’s a few jams and odd balls mixed in.

A late #1 philips, a calif-tools line wrench, a 1226 and 2 1208, a 4861 extension, and a 3/4” extension.

The odd balls are the war finish 1222 with the set screw and a screwdriver bit made from a 1/4” wf socket and a tap collar.

The 1210 pebble is pretty scarce, but this is the 4th one I’ve found in the wild. I wish I could apply that luck to other finds!

I would agree with that. Back when I was assembling my set of pebble combos, the "little guys" were hard to find. Tough as the 1210 was, I think I had an even tougher time finding a 1212 (3/8") in decent shape.

New Plomb catalog, 19R 3rd printing which up until now has not been seen. I have a historian on retainer who will delve into the importance of this catalog later.

That is an amazing amount of Plomb. Things have slowed to a halt now that we have had first snow here. Hopefully everything will clear up by spring and we can get back to some swap meets!

Very nice 5 bands! One of the best looking Plomb sockets design.

Very cool. Some of those sockets are very hard to find!

A second trip to yesterday’s estate sale netted a few more plomb bits...

-3018 & 3216 wrenches
- plomb Los Angeles x1718 double open end (you have this one Roy?)
- cut off 9806 that I’ll make something out of
- 5226 socket
- 1/4” offset screw driver

And the belle of the ball, two 3/4” box end crows foots. A quick scan of the catalogs turned up nothing on these. They’re 3/8” drive and marked st00025. Contract tools of some kind I’d guess.

Those box end wrenches have got to be air craft and contract like you stated and probably not very common. Nice grabs!

Sweet! I do not have any examples of an X series wrench. Must be the missing link between the O series and the 30XX.
Also nice torque adapters

My run of plomb luck continued today. I spotted on my way out of the flea market and brought it home. A 9980 utility chest full of goodies. The chest is in great shape. Good labels, paint, and no rust. Inside was split between plomb and long c craftsman. Almost a full 1/2” drive set, a full set of 3/8” sockets, a 3/4-1/2” adapter, a 12” adjustable, even a cross bar. All in great shape with perfect shiny chrome. I’m super excited... this is the first top chest I’ve had a chance to buy in person since I started collecting. I’ll post some more pictures once I shine it up and decide how to fill it.

A full run of sockets is nearly unheard of! I am putting together a 3/8 set if you already have those or maybe have others that are not as nice?
