The mailman brought me a 4712L this morning. Now I’m just missing the 4708L and the 4714L from my deep set. By my count, I need those two and one of the trico wiper sockets to complete my set of special 1/4” sockets.

We need a catch phrase for this principle to save typing. Finishline Financial Frenzy? The Law of Last Licks Larceny? It just happened to me. Not Plomb. But it's universal. I rationalized it away as Xmas presents to myself. Lol

Yea. This happens. I try and rationalise the extra expenditure as 'averaged cost over the whole set makes the expensive last piece good value' !

It's almost worse if there is no catalogue and one doesn't know where the 'completion line' is. There may be more out there! Probably less painful if you are finishing a known 'set' then at least there is a limit. Unless after completing it you find pieces in better condition than those you already have..

Ooooo, that is a nice set to have in a collection. All those unusual sockets with special purposes make it so interesting. Well done:rocker:
With something like that to talk through one can bore the visiting relatives for an entire Christmas holiday!

Especially these days when almost any material object one desires is just a click away. A marked up a catalog page to show what I’m missing, Incase anyone is sitting on a hoard of midget stuff.

Looking good channel cat Dan! You have collected a lot of uncommon pieces there! I can help with any of the missing pieces but I would if I had them! Good luck with the hunt! I know I rationalize the spending by figuring out my total cost... if I will end up less than what it would cost me to buy the set complete , I buy the pieces. Of course, I usually pass over much more complete sets because I don’t want to spend much but then end up spending more because I start out with rough sets [emoji849][emoji23]

I picked up the screwdriver at the top of this photo yesterday, assuming it was a knock off of the Plomb/PROTO design, due to it not being marked.

Now I am wondering if they did indeed make these and marked them with paint that's worn off. Were these a transition design between the wood and plastic handles?

I could have put it in the PROTO thread (the wooden handled one is PROTO Professional), but chose the Plomb instead, so I could also show the little # 9622 that I found. Is this the smallest one that they made?

To the best of my knowledge the top plastic one with metal **** cap is an import knockoff, though I don’t recall the brand. Seen plenty of ‘em in the wild. They’ve been discussed before but I’m not sure if any brand was mentioned.

I know that feeling. I remember paying a pretty penny for a 3070 but I rationalized it with my eBay sales. Tunnel vision and focus can be a good thing to finish goals and bad thing for the wallet. Definently rewarding to finish out a master set. In the home stretch. I think I looked for over a year for my last pebble wrench! Hopefully you will not have to wait that long.

Nice pick up for a quarter. Hard to even find a socket no a days for 1/4 let alone a wrench.

Looking good. There was a couple of items that Plomb didn't have on my board such as brake spring pliers, steel hydraulic pliers, and some of the slip joint pliers with side cutters.

I got it. It has more cosmetic damage than the photos show, and one slide for the bottom drawer failed at the spotwelds but was stored inside the drawer. All the original casters were removed and stored in the top drawer. The front of the bottom drawer is caved in and the handhold dented.

Because of the cosmetic and structural damage, we agreed that $45.00 was a fair price.

I sent a message soon after it was posted, and about 8 AM this morning he responded. It was in my trunk by 10 AM. Nice guy, and perhaps a source of future goodies!

I'll include some photos and more information when I get time.
