Some here hate it when I do this but it is not against the forum rules and I do this because others here may be interested...if you dont like it, ignorance is bliss.

I'm watching the 9/32 set.
I would have traded something for that 1/4 set........

Yes I remember Wrencher, but I was trying to build a couple bigger sets at that time. The hardest parts for me to find seem to be the TMC-42 sockets. I think these were for old radio installation on some cars...and the TM-27 sockets...I know these were used for housing (aluminum siding screws) and I'm sure other things too.

Describe or show me a picture of the TMC-42, I think I may have one, I showed it to my snapon dealer and he said it was for radio installation in the 60's on Chrysler products if I remember correctly.

So, MachineTech... are you moving on from these sets to more interesting Snapon tools to collect? What are your future collecting goals? These sets came out nice... it would be interesting to hear whats next! :)

It's like a small deep well socket but the (breech or bore) has 2 flat sides and the outsides are half moon. It could be described as a 2pt socket.

it is called oval.......like a shock absorber socket.

the tmc42 is listed for stromberg carbuerator jets, not radio's. although there maybe similar fasteners on 1950's radios.

I want to complete the 169-TM-B set that you asked if I was willing to sell the other night. It has some very interesting parts like the radio installation sockets mentioned above. These must have been very important at the time to offer them in sets yet most people now could not even tell you what they were used for. I find it difficult to explain to my wife why making these sets complete makes me happy. Others may have a different opinon but I think making these sets as original and complete as possible is doing them a favor. It's fun, that's all I can say, and I'm even thinking of graduating to 3/8 drive sets, ya know the Ferret things interest me.

The socket that I have has 3 raised ridges inside, is 1/4 drive and standard, not deep. I will check it tomorrow to see if there are any numbers on it.
