Plumbing for Basement Compresor

Newbie here.......

I am getting a condo with a 2 car garage. Space is limited due to the amount of stuff I have.

I am thinking of locating the compressor in the basement and then plumbing a line out of the basement to the garage. I would then hook it up to a hose reel so that I can have air anywhere I need.

I would have to run an electric on/off switch or have to turn it on/off every time I use it.

This would also help with noise as I have neighbors door to door.

Has anyone done this?

Thanks,

Chilaco

My compressor is in my basement under the stairs. The air hose runs up through the wall into my attached garage and is connected to a hose reel. The compressor runs off it's pressure switch (std operation) so no other switches are required.

No reason it wouldn't work.
The extra switch would keep it from starting up a 2:00 AM
But I sure would insulate and double dry wall all the walls and under the stairs for noise control.

Add a compressor relay scavenged from an air conditioning compressor unit and you have low voltage switching from anyplace via doorbell wire.
Install an outside air intake, and the noise is pretty much gone without walls and insulation. It will take years for the neighbors to figure out what the puffing noise is when the compressor runs.
