Plumbing question

I didn't know where to post this so here it goes. I'm putting in the plumbing for two sinks in my shop on back to back walls. So basically the plumbing will be in the wall between the sinks. I assume I need an air line for the sink drain. I plan on running it up through the wall. Is it ok to just open it into the attic or do I need to run it all the way through to the roof? The roof is shingled already so that's why I'm asking.

I believe it has to vent outdoors, although there may be different regulations depending on what part of the world you live in. Is there already an existing vent from another bathroom or sink that you can tie into up in the attic?

Doesn't have to be to code. That's why the building is roofed already. I didn't want to deal with plumbing inspections. There are no other sinks and no bathroom so no pipe.

those are called a cheater vent , do not use it I am a licensed plumber an d though it is a bit of work run your vent thru the roof .you can use 1.5" to just below the roof then transition to 3" it is not that hard to do , with a properly installed rubber flashing you will have no leaks. run the 3" up2-3 feet depending on snow accumulation any ?'s just ask

If the roof is comp shingles it will be easy to get the vent through the roof. It is very undesirable to vent the plumbing into the attic, the stench alone is enough......

Here is the deal, the plumbing code is there for the health, safety and wellness of you and the next homeowner. I vent thru the roof is the best long term answer. 2nd best is for you to vent thru to the attic and place a one way valve others have mentioned. I have both in my home. - the valve will not be a 20-30 year answer- however it's a great deal for what you have.
