Plumbing this oil supply?

I bought an oil fired mobile home heating unit for my new shop. I will be mounting it on an open pedestal to allow the heat to exit the bottom of the unit, and feeding it from a steel drum outside the shop, but still enclosed.

I have no problem with the wiring/electrical supply but I am confused about establishing the fuel supply. Any help on hooking up the drum to the burner would be appreciate-I need everything-tubing diameter, flared fittings? filter placement, etc, Thanks

there are 2 standard fitting sizes 1/2 and 3/8. From the pic you may have 3/8. that determines line size. I would recommend 1/2 inch. The valve at your burner is called a firematic you can get them in both sizes. You say you are using a drum, what like a 55gal? if so get a double tap bushing. outside is 2inch to fit the drum. it has 2 1/2ich threaded holes. put a plug in one and the other put a 1/2 threaded black pipe long enough to reach about 2inch from bottom of drum. at the other end of the fitting come up about a foot then use a 90 elbow and put a ball valve on it, after the valve put a filter. from the filter run your line to the burner. you close the valve when replacing the filter so you don't lose your prime. The filter could go at the burner but the idea is to have clean oil in the line, no crud.

Thanks. There are two male threaded "fittings" on the left of the burner-one with the silver wheel, the other at the bottom of the black unit. Where does the supply line go?

I think this is what it says.

double pipe system (with return line)
bypass plug in, and nibble for the return line. "The one without the fireomatic

single pipe system (without return line)
bypass plug out and cap that hole.

supply goes to firematic. the black plug on bottom of pump is return. if you look at the pump cover most of the time it says supply and return with arrows showing direction
