Plumbing vent question

Couple questions for the plumbers please. This is the 1st floor of a 2-story building with two bathrooms, one stacked on top of the other. I'm stuck a little on the drain for the laundry. Photo taken from the bathroom, the other side is the laundry/mech room.

Questions are:
1. Is there an issue running the laundry box through the same drain as the sink?
2. Is there an issue using a wye turned on its side to drain the sink?

Vertical pipes left to right:
  • - stack going up through roof
    • cleanout at bottom
    • sink drain above cleanout
  • Vent to tie into 2nd floor above flood
  • Washer outlet box, drains into stack
  • Vent for 1st floor toilet.
Located in ON, Canada. Not going to be inspected, but I want it done right. Really appreciate the feedback.

I’m not a plumber, I did sweat miles of copper tubbing as a summer job when I was a kid. In my state code allows the laundry standing pipe and sink to use the same drain pipe. As for your upside down Y fitting( I assume that’s what you’re talking about) and it’s the one closest to the floor? Again, in my state code allows that use as long as one side has a cap. Can be glued or screw in cap.

Also keep in mind you need a break from your washer and standing pipe so the water doesn’t siphon out of the washer. Most washers hook over the standing pipe. The Y fitting isn’t bad, it’s a good place for a clean out. If it were me I’d have a clean out somewhere.

your sink drain is technically wet vented thru the laundry box which is probably OK . the laundry drain could be a TY into the drain rather than a Y.I suspect an inspector would want a 2" line for the laundry, and a wet vent should be 2" as well . a Y on it's side horizontal is OK
I am a bit rusty on this stuff , take it for what it's worth

I would run the laundry straight across to the 3” main. Keep the vent to the left of the laundry box. The lavatory can tie in as shown. I would not want the Volume of the laundry running past the lav drain. You might get some surging or siphon the sink trap.

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing - if there was more space between them, I'd be a little less concerned.

I think I'll seperate out the laundry - have it T right into the stack. I'll cap off the sink and call it good.
Thanks all for the feedback!
