I have a friend who is in charge of a warehouse that loads and unloads pharmacutical supplies for a very large company. They ship worldwide. As trucks come in the contents are separated by full, new sheets of 3/8" plywood. He has been told that it can't lay around. His audit team has told him to either give it away or trash it as it accumulates.

He has already used all he can handle. Today I picked up 24 sheets. :D He told me he would contact me as he gets quantities of 15-20 sheets.

The possibilities are endless. This will become wall material for my woodworking shop, storage and electrical room, sheathing on a camper rebuild, and the list goes on. I'm stoked over this. :)

We get large bundles of bags at work, stacked on pallets (2000 bags per pallet). Sometimes they come in with 1/2" OSB strapped to the tops to keep the pallets steady. I've gotten enough to completely do the inside of my wife's potting shed (8x10), and the walls and ceiling of my shop (24x40) for free. Of course, being 4'x4', I had to get creative in some places. You just can't beat free. Good score.

Wood used for shipping is often scrapped like your friend does. Any time you get in a position to pick it up for free, go for it.
Over the years, I've been lucky enough to get left over shipping hardwood, usually oak 4x4 and 2x4. Sometimes other hardwoods are mixed in with it. I have built some nice pieces of furniture with the free shipping oak.
