Whats with the rash of PM notices in emails, when you log on to the site you have no PM's? Anyone else getting these messages in your email only to find you have no PM's here ?

Today I received 4 emails that I had private messages here . What gives !

We have had a rash of spammers recently whose tactic is to send people PMs saying they have a virus, and need to click on a supplied link. Many members are reporting these messages to the admin/mods, who then ban the spammer and remove all of his messages. So, by the time you log in, those spam messages have been deleted from your box.

Sorry for the trouble. Welcome back to active posting, though :)

Probably the same spammer as before...appears to spend time becoming members of
vBulletin powered websites and then PMs the members...remember Razzr...? Same stuff.

The slime seems to target this website first, as my last PM notification from
the previous (probably the same) spammer came from here first.

Google his user name. You will find 169 entries for jordoniuss, including in other languages.
All indicate new memberships on message boards.

I'm going to lock up my notification and my email address until this gets resolved.
No reflection on The Garage Journal board, but if he's targeting all the vBulletin powered
websites he has joined, I hate to chance hitting on an infected file in my home email.

I just got one from someome claming Super Moderator. I forwarded it to Ryan. Maybe he will get the SOB banned.
