I found a couple of threads related to finish air nailers that are a couple of years old or mention older guns. It seems the industry just re-designed most of their tools so I am hoping someone has experience with the newer stuff and can recommend brands or even specific combo kits.

I have a good Porter Cable angled clipped framer (seldom used) and a great 10 year old Senco 15ga angled finish nailer that's easy to use and is super reliable. I am looking to complement those with a new 15ga finish nailer, a 18ga brad nailer, a 23ga pinner and a 1/4 or 3/8 stapler but I don't want to spend $800 or so for Sencos because these will not get used daily but reliability and few jams are important.

Hitachi nailers from "BIG SKY TOOLS "

looks like you can get the 4 you want for $199-

https://bigskytool.com/hitachi-finish-nailer-combo-kit-nt65ma4-nt50ae2-n3804ab3-np35a.html

if link doesn't work:

Google them

Then click on nailers, hitachi

recon cond "a" = can't tell from new

recon cond "c" = may have marks on it either is a full recond

Hitachi nailers are the best and Big Sky is an authorized reconditioner

they also have other brands
I've purchased several items from them - haven't been disapointed yet.

I bought newer Porter Cables, within the last five years, too. They're not as heavy duty as PCs of old but they've been great for all the work I've done with them.

I just bought a Hitachi 1/4" stapler that I haven't used yet, for putting down plywood underlayment. Feels good in the hand, was cheap, and got high marks on Amazon.

I also just purchased a Dewalt 15Ga finish nailer that handles 1" to 2 1/2" nails. I need that one for my 1/4" thick x 2" wide red-oak floors. The flooring guy recommended a Senco but the Dewalt was $100 less and also well reviewed on Amazon. Again, haven't used it yet but it felt familiar as I have a Dewalt framer as well.

So, no help at all I guess... Happy to answer any questions though?

Cheers,

Jon

I would look at what uses the common nails and staples to make sure you don't buy some oddball nailer that uses had to find nails and staples.

I use a Hitachi 16 gauge finish nailer and a Ridgid 23 gauge pin nailer. I paid $119 for the Hitachi and $49 for the Ridgid, on sale. Normally $89 I think. Both are quality nailers but if I could I'd have Hitachi for everything.

My framing nailer is a Harbor Freight 21 degree full head framer, which I'd like to upgrade someday. The framer gets the least use for me, so I've been putting off the upgrade for a while now.

I've never had a use for a 15 gauge finish nailer or 18 gauge brad. If I did a lot of big exterior moulding I'd probably look at a 15 gauge. 18 gauge is a weird in-between size, never had a use for it.

I've got Ryobi airwave framing and finish nailers, quite cheap but very reliable. Ive thrashed them on a massive reno with no issues apart from a very occasional jam that was easily cleared.
