Has anyone built a low CG frame and used outboard pneumatic casters (say 6-8") on a larger toolbox for an offroad style box? I have a gravel driveway and was thinking of making up something like for my new HF44 becasue Sometime I just don't have room to work in the garage and my pickup is just too large to fit.

fame would kind of be similar to this to keep the box low sitting in the center and wheels out to the sides for stability.

Standard pneumatic casters are pretty "squishy", even at maximum rated pressure.

I suggest 10-14" diameter rubber tired casters such as Aerol or forklift tires.

I would look for the solid tires. Electric wheelchairs use them quite often. They look exactly like a pneumatic tire but they have an extremely dense foam inside. If they can withstand a 400lb handicapped scooter with a 500lb person riding it they should work fine for your toolbox.

I knew a guy who had a large cherry picker engine hoist that had pneumatic tires on it.
It was great for gravel/dirt driveway work.

cool, thank yall. I've seen the pit boxes before, My idea is similar, but I also was thinking of have the tires mounted wider then the box, not just longer so that way it's not as tippy.

Maybe some of the no flat tires on casters?

I'm planning to build a large, custom pit box...and I am looking at electric wheelchair/electric scooter tires. They make them with solid tires in the load range I want. They are pretty expensive brand new.

The other option I was thinking about (but I REALLY don't want to go with pneumantic tires) is to go with the smallest 'donut spare tires' I can find from a car. These would work, but really don't EVER want to find my tire 'flat' on my tool box.
