I did a quick search, but didn't really come up with much....

What is the best pneumatic coupler for the end of an air hose?

Best bang for the buck?

I have bought some at harbor freight the last couple of times, but I'm getting tired of them leaking.......

It seems that our local Lowes and Tractor Supply just have the cheapie china fittings as well....

I've been looking on Amazon...

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003O5B5LG/?tag=atomicindus08-20

While on the roof, I've had the harbor freight couplers hold onto the nail gun, but I think it would be nice to have a better locking connector....

I don't need it to fly, but I would like a quality female fitting for the end of the air hose that isn't super expensive....

I'm open for recommendations....

make sure you get either all industrial or all automotive fittings. I like to buy extras, just in case I ever come home with a new air tool.

If you can, avoid the "universal(auto/industrial) couplers. I have had good service from Amflo couplers.
try hosefittingairline.com for basic info -good site.

I've been using the Legacy couplers and plugs. The coupler is steel and the plug is Aluminum ... nice product.

I switched all my air tools over to Milton's A series couplers years ago. They take a beating and never leak. Made in the USA and have a lifetime warranty. What more do you want?

I did look at Prevost but the plastic housing turned me off. A little dirt would probably jam that button too.

+5 Milton hi-flo steel both ends and all tools. I bought mine from Northern Tool, you may have read my post from last year. They are great and USA made.

Amflo's are all now made in China. They are not what they used to be. I use Coilhose 6 ball couplers. They are made right here in New Jersey.

Ive used tons of couplers over the years. From cheap HF ones to the best Miltons, and the BEST ones are the Coilhose "mega flow" automatic high flow couplers, found here. They are priced right, USA MADE, flow extremely well, last forever, automatic/self locking, and best of all the couplers fit every style fitting I have ever tried.

I've used Milton couplers for the past 45 years and as long as they are available, that all I will ever use. Also they are easy to find and USA....TIM

I wish my work place would buy the Milton couplers, they always cheap out and buy the China ones and they always go bad within a week or so. Very frustrating when they start leaking and the collars jam up and won't release when you want them to.

Prevost couplers are far the best pneumatic couplers out there. Ya your paying more for them up front but they will outlast the milton, amflo and even parker 10 to 1. The new PS1 Safety is warrantied for 3 years against leakage when you use there plug. !

Just wonder why the preference for steel over brass. I've always tended to use brass when it is available to avoid rust issues.

prevost with pressure release #1 hands down, for you old guys that run 3/8 fitting and alot of pressure the pressure release on these can't be beat. they make them without the pressure release so make sure you ask FOR the pressure release, well worth the extra couple of bucks.

I made two mistakes when I started setting up my garage 2 years ago. I bought a 110v compressor and I bought chinese couplers. Had I bothered to look I would have found a 20 amp 220v circuit terminating under the basement stairs. Strangely a convenient place to store a compressor out of sight (imagine that). Had I bothered to search I would have found that couplers like most other things are easy for the chinese to screw up. Nothing but problems with them, and I don't even use air very often, but every time I did...I was messing around with those damn couplers. Ever since I got the Milton V high flow couplers, not a single problem. Northern Tool has them, order lots of extra male fittings for the air tools.

Now where is everyone getting their coilhose product from? Seems like everywhere I found wanted an arm and a leg for the product and another arm for shipping. I even called them two years ago to see if they would sell direct (since I drive right past their warehouse on my way home from work)...no dice.

Another Vote for Prevost... Although I only have the regular push button disconnect. The safety release looks tempting. Anyone have a source for the best price on them?

Brass is too soft for impact use. The body wears out quickly when used on an impact tool...Maybe ok for paint gun service.

+1 I would prefer brass for uses that aren't going to be connected/disconnected very often and that are prone to building up rust. Any tool will bet used enough to never develop any rust unless maybe if it's permanently attached to a hose with a "wet" air supply.

Our shop uses and sells Milton "L" style.

I don't know why. Are they're any advantages of using a long plug instead of using short ones?

I've got one that's 7 or 8 years old with no issues. The last shop I worked in had them for the five years I worked there with no issues. The new shop I'm in has 90% Prevost couplers, and the ones that aren't are being replaced with them as they go bad.

If they can survive that kind of daily use in a heavy equipment shop, they'll stand up to home use no problem. They are surprisingly problem durable and free. I'm fairly sure that it's just the outside of the coupler that is just plastic, the body itself is metal.

I'm another for Milton. Never tried the Prevost though. Get mine at Farm & Fleet or Northern Tool.

None that I know of. I have all Lincoln connectors (Type "L") in my shop because I got a couple of boxes of couplers (Actual Lincoln mfg...) from a company that was closing for free and a few of the male ends, (I'm always scrambling for those..). They work fine and wear well (never worn on out or broke one in near 30 years), but I'm out of sync with anyone else I know for connecting to air. Not a real big deal I have made up adapters from, L female to about anything else male, but only because I still have a dozen new couplers left...

The Lincolns are a lot bigger than other types FWIW.

Hf used to sell good amflo ones. Now all they have is junk ones.

Grabbed several packages when they went to discontinued/clearance.
It's of better quality than the regular HF ones.

I think for the female side, you can see that there are 6-balls, comparing
to the 3-ball regular ones.

To clarify it is not plastic it is "composite" and it is pretty tough material. I drove over mine many time with no failure on the PREVOST

Prevost is all I use. I've been using the same coupler for over three years and it's still going strong. I'm now in the process of switching over to the "european profile" coupler and fittings for more air volume. Once you use the Prevost stuff you won't go back.
