OK here is the deal. My old black and decker 1/2 impact that I purchased back in the mid 80s bit the bullet.Parts are not available bla bla bla. So I was trying to decide weather to make a trip to my friendly HF and have a look the the Earthquake in 1/2 drive. Anyway went to sears and walked out with an impact wrench with 540 lbs for 64.99. BTY, I am a disabled vet, this reduces the price by another 5%. Anyway I did what the instructions said regarding proper lubrication. So I set the gun on a rag and a lot of black gunk cam out the exhaust port when I squeezed the trigger. Again I put more 30 weight oil into the inlet connected the air, squeezed the trigger and more black particles were blown onto my rag. I suspect that this is simply assembly lube from the factory. Am I on the proper track? The gun removes the lugs on my 150 without a thought. I am considering flushing the entire gun out with some fuel oil or a mix of chainsaw fuel. What do others think. And yes the gun is made in China.I don't care where it was made, as long as it does the job intended. Thanks Ken

Stilkman+ These are good impacts, made by Florida Pneumatic (FP743A) , hardly any issues with them.

Are the chunks solid or are they simply chunks of grease that the oil failed to dissolve? If grease...no problem. If sold, that's pieces of the vanes on the air motor being spit out, and it will die quickly.

You mentioned 30wt...I would switch to Marvel brand air tool oil. It seems to clean better and work better than most. If my impact won't break a fastener loose, I give it a few drops of marvel and it gets the job done....plus, every time I've torn them down they look like new inside.

More like chunks of grease.I used the 30 weight simply because that was what was listed in the owners manual. After about the third round it started to get cleaned out. I failed to mention that on the front there is a plug with an allen screw.I removed the screw and attempted to put oil in but this simply made a bit of a mess. Are the anvil and blades lubricated by the same lubrication? Thanks, Ken

Keep in mind also that the 19984 impact has ceramic balls in the handle that are for silencing. These seem to blow a little bit of stuff from those from time to time. They're rough and I think they seem to dust for lack of a better word, from rattling around like they do. These are good impacts, made by Florida Pneumatic (FP743A) , hardly any issues with them. They use oil in the hammers ,no grease.

SM56 Thanks for the information, however the box states that it was made in China.???

Sure, but it's made by Florida Pneumatic even so. Aircat is made by Florida Pneumatic too, and not in the United States. Much of Ingersoll Rand is made there now as well.
