This showed up in my email box today in response to my CL vises wanted ad. Owner thinks it is unique. Thoughts?

Lots of them out there and they're still made by several companies.

A vise like that would normally be found on a gang drill.

I need a big vise, the air would be easier on my shoulders but wont hold when foot removed correct?
Think my best bet is to buy big old USA made from member.

Not unique, not even special, handy maybe with a fixture of some kind for doing a bunch of the same thing.

Any idea if its actually useful in normal vise work?

That's all I'm trying to do is find a good old USA made vise for my garage so I can toss the chinese POS one out (recycle).

I'm not looking to get into the restoration business at all. I go :willy_nil over fine, detail oriented work like painting.
