Ya, was not expecting a lot! Was betting on it being a 5c. I’ve gotten a few cheap spindexers all have been 5c.So why did you buy something that you didn't know what it takes? Looking around, nobody seems to sell collets. I did find this picture, but it shows very different dimensions than what you wrote above.
Also, the fact that none of these sellers seem to also sell collets should have been a major red-flag...
Ya, thought that may have been the cylinder for e or size. So, in the picture of what you purchased, it says 25 Type. So not sure why you are asking us.
Even better, the title says type15, but the picture says type25!So, in the picture of what you purchased, it says 25 Type. So not sure why you are asking us.
Thats what i thought too! Seemed a little off though. Might try one, haven’t found a good source yet.Looks like they may be a W25 type collet (Schaublin)?
Ya I picked the 25. Bigger is better right?Even better, the title says type15, but the picture says type25!
Oh, those guys!![]()
-A somewhat meaningless reply from the seller. A "type 25" collet could mean an ER25 collet but that's not even a "pull type" of collet.Ebay seller replied its takes a 25 Type closer.
-This happened because....Well im not sure what to search for now?
-Could be but several of the dimensions don't match what was posted. Schaublin made an almost bewildering array of collets, including a re-design of the machinery (lathes) years ago that dictated new specs. This can depend on whether there was an "N" designation (N=new) or not. If seeking a greater understanding of what one manufacturer does in the evolution of design a quick perusal of the Schaublin catalog is great bedtime reading. This thread should also lead to the conclusion that the Chinese can/do duplicate good tooling but are often vague about providing those nagging details (We just sell things). Matching/mating components, especially collets, isn't a casual affair and presuming (5C) can/will bite you in the ****. Schaublin link below.Looks like they may be a W25 type collet (Schaublin)?
Agreed. As I said before, the one pic of a closer like this I could find with a collet had numbers that didn't match the drawing in this first thread.Could be but several of the dimensions don't match what was posted.
-We're all very uncertain about this yet have spent a lot more time investigating/researching attempting to help. Presumably far more than....Agreed. As I said before, the one pic of a closer like this I could find with a collet had numbers that didn't match the drawing in this first thread.
-It was a valid guess but at this point I wouldn't place very much faith in what the seller says. "I just sell things".The reason I was suggesting W25 was because that was literally the only thing I could find that showed a 15, 20 and 25 Type,
-There do appear to be several sites that sell these collets but throwing a dart at the Schaublin catalog (Schaublin design hasn't even been identified) isn't a prudent decision either. There are other collets besides Schaublin too.and found an sideways reference to them in a related listing. The other half was that the only way I could seem to find any were they AliBaba or other related Asian commerce sites.
Well, there is a way but that hasn't happened yet.NO GUARANTEE they would work!
-Most collets should do ok for what the OP wants to use it for IMO, provide the collet matches the holder and drawbar.I am also "not saying anything" related to buying a piece of machinery that you don't know the specs, and just "hoping" that it is the size you want. Without a way to hold the work, we don't know how concentric it is,
-Would be a heck of a thing to finally get the right collet and the pneumatics didn't meet expectations.if the pneumatics work, or anything else...
-I'm certainly not the last word on the matter either but there's a few "experts" here I wouldn't take machinery/tooling advice from. The seller is no help because it is an eBay drop shipper, who is simply a front for a warehouse. It is like asking computer specs from the Walmart Employee.
Could have been, but it was getting pretty longCrazy that this couldn't just be posted in the original thread

Thanks for the murge. Wasn’t really sureAll 3 threads on the same issue have been merged.
