Is there any value added in pneumatic vise vs traditional screw?
I have a chance to buy pneumatic FPU vise made in Poland. I think FPU is a great vise but I never had pneumatic vise. is it worth paying $400 for it?

There are pneumatic vises made for repeat machining purposes, but I prefer a hand crank vice for workbench use. I adjust the vice according to what I am holding and how hard I plan to twist on it. I don’t want a surprise when something slips due to low air pressure, or crushing something delicate.

Those are production tools. You could use it as a bench vise I suppose but it would be a hassle to set each time.

Do you set the jaw pressure with air pressure?

I've only used them in production, and on a cold saw. Cool, but probably not what I'd drop $400 on (not to say that you shouldn't).

I've never used one but there is a hand crank on it. If the air only took care of the speed part (and eliminated turning the screw during set up) then you apply final pressure by hand turning it would be a great vice. I love speed or quick-set vises.
