I bought two of them, one of them lasted about a month, then the hose burst one day when I turned it on. The other one leaked at both fittings the second I hooked it up.

I would not recommend them.

knew I saw this thread somewhere.

I loved my expanding hose, until it blew up on my leg just now. I got it from my dad a few Christmases ago. I don't remember the specific brand. But he got it for me after he heard me saying I wanted to try one as we watched the commercial one afternoon.

Needless to say, neat hose but like anything else, has it's pros and cons.

Pros:
- really light
- takes up little space
- easy to drag around

Cons:
- it blows up, overfilled waterballoon style
- short length unless pressurized to expand (watering plants across the deck)

Pics here. What happened was I turned on the faucet and was dragging the hose to the grass to rinse out the pool rake. I had the pistol water nozzle on the end so the hose pressurized. I looked down just in time to see a big blue water balloon. I barely started to react to toss the hose but wasn't fast enough, it exploded on my leg. Sounded like a firework went off. Stung like a really good towel whip.

I pulled the hose apart from the good end and you can see the fatigued and cracked rubber line. The other end is the one that exploded. You can see the rubber still attached to the coupling.

Like I said I don't remember the brand but I was generally satisfied with it until this. I think I'll stick to regular hoses that just get holes in them and squirt me rather than explode on my leg.

Girlfriend bought me one for fathers day 2013. It lasted a couple weeks until it exploded. We got a free replacement that was never taken out of the package. In my mind I was thinking "Why bother." I will use it this year and try to make it last.(maybe only open the valve a little bit) It was a present and she meant well, I don't like it when she is sad.

It is worthless on a sprinkler.

Mostly what they're good for is keeping one coiled in a bucket or whatever for the express purpose of watering the plants and flowers around your house. Very handy in this regard, but inferior to a regular hose on a reel for just about everything else. The 50' length is ********, also, think measures about 35' when extended.

There's a class action lawsuit against them... At least that's what the banner ad on Facebook said.
