I have a Delica too, but it's the black FRN handled one with the regular non- hollow ground blade. I've had it in my pocket every day for the last 5 or 6 years. It doubles as a bottle opener and I can open a beer faster than anyone I've met. Although the tip of the handle is now all chewed up. The blade is also cracked all the way through on the top/back of the thumb hole. Back of the blade is sanded smooth, there are grind marks on the blade, the etched spider is loooong gone... What a useful tool!
I'm thinking it's finally time for a new one and the SS handled, hollow ground blade one that I believe you have is the one I'm looking at. I figure the metal handle will make it stiffer and won't wear on bottle caps. Plus I can drill/mill/engrave the handle however I want.

I'd like to see a picture of your delica!

OK, I had to go take some pictures. I guess just to prove that addictive behavior is not limited to my tools. :lol_hitti

I carry a Swiss Army Knife (Victorinox Hiker model). I hadn't carried one for some time, needed it once last year, and have had it in my pocket ever since. Surprising how often it gets used, even in an office work environment.

My favorite pocket knife is a ViseGrip with Schrade blades:

If anyone knows where I can get more, I know someone who wants to buy several for use around the farm.

Elroy is going to show his age here: Case ** Pea Nut with red bone.
Small and extremely well finished. "I Like it"

Wouldn't want to field dress a dear with it though

Here ya go. On the closed picture you can see the 'teeth' marks from bottle caps on the pivot end. The crack is pretty much invisible even to the naked eye, but it is right where the knurling for your thumb goes. If I flex it, it will separate.

How do you like the steel handled version?

Buck 110. Not only does it work well for a knife and a screw driver, it's a pretty good improvised hammer, too. I bet y'all would never be able to unstick a carburator float with one of those fancy lightweight knives!:lol_hitti

I carry a Proto 18575 multi tool and a Proto 18535 electrician's knife. Got less than $70 in both of them new off of ebay. I've been incredibly pleased with them both, especially the multi-tool. It is far and away better than my Gerber that I retired.

I have always hated carrying anything bulky in my pocket but picked one of these up years ago. Comes in handy enough for what I use it for and no thicker than a half dollar

I was never a fan of spyderco. I thought they looked kinda funny. I'm more of a classic buck looking kind of knife. Originally I wanted to get a nice sog. About 3 years ago a girlfriend of mine gave me a gift certificate to the local shooting range for my birthday. At the time I was in school and going to the shooting range would require hours out of my day(atleast for me). I never made time to go shoot but I did go and look at their kinife selection. The sogs that they had sucked ***. I "setlled" for this spyderco because it was really the nicest knife that they had. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION MY FRIEND I LOVE IT!!!!! It fits well in my hand. It feels very solid, even after 3 years. Its just a bad *** knife! I'm still not a big fan of the spyderco look but I do know from experience that they make some solid knives. If there are any spyderco reps on this forum please make checks payable to sickytwisted! No but really I love it!

Let me tell you a little more about Spyderco that many people don't know.

When the World Trade Center towers fell, the responders complained about the myriad of materials they were having to cut through in searching the rubble for their rescue/recovery efforts. Sal Glesser, the creator of Spyderco Knives, packed boxes full of their "Rescue Model" and booked himself a flight to New York, where he distributed them to Police and Fire personnel at ground zero.

In recognition for their efforts, Spyderco was given a piece of steel beam from one of the towers, which it used to make laser-engraved medallions of the NYC skyline that were affixed to special edition WTC knives - production was limited to the same number of knives as people who died in the WTC attacks. 100% of the profits from that venture were donated to the families of the victims.

Spyderco is known for providing knives at no cost to deploying soldiers headed for the Mideast.

They are a company with a conscience, one that believes in doing the right thing and building a business that's sustainable. In fact, their motto is "Integrity is Doing the Right Thing, Even if No One is Looking."

I've met Sal and his son Eric personally at knife shows, and while I'm usually not crowing the virtues of one company or another, this is a corporation with a face, one that I can feel good about doing business with.

I get the feeling if they made tools... you guys would buy them.

I carry a CRKT M16 Zytel. It's been a good knife but I think it's time to upgrade to a Kershaw or Benchmade though.

Am I the only one who also wants a KA-BAR? :)

Yeah, 4 now actually. If I recall correctly, the Red class items are imported. From their website:

Gold Class - Our Gold Class clearly sets the new standard of what is possible in premium knife manufacturing. It’s quite simply the best of the best.

Blue Class - Our Blue Class represents the heart of everything that is Benchmade. These USA made products are designed and built for the individual who appreciates the difference that a high-quality cutting tool can make.

Black Class - Our Black Class products are designed, developed and tested for extreme duty. They are the preferred cutting tools for Law Enforcement, Public Safety and Elite Military Troops around the globe.

Red Class - Our Red Class offers “best in class” value. These edged tools possess the same Benchmade mindset of leading innovation, modern materials and quality manufacturing.

They are no longer being made. That tool is now worth a bit of money so take good care of it.

Yep, the CRKT has done me well. for only $50 i couldn't find anything else of the same quality. At the time I couldn't see spending the extra $30 for a Kershaw.

Now KA-BARs on the other hand- awesome knives. I know a few guys who have had theirs over 20 years and they've put them through hell and back.

Awfully nice knife to be used as a hammer. Trouble is, up here at least, a Buck 110, Gerber Combat Folder, Spyderco Police model, SOG Tomcat or anything else with a blade length over 3 1/2" will get the attention of the local LEOs, and anything full auto is guaranteed jail time.

I consider my knives tools. I know what you mean though. You know, when I originally acquired this knife, I didn't expect it to perform as well as it has. Its truly the best knife I've ever owned. The only thing that bumms me out is the fact that i can't get a replacement blade for it. I like the way it is not, but it just seems wrong that if i wanted to, I cannot get a replacement blade. thanks for the story Zrexxer. I love hearing that kind of thing especially about the brand names that I love.

I've carried a SAK for 30+ years. I like this model because it has a Phillips head and 2 size straight blade screw driver bits - the small one fits the bows and frame of my glasses.

On camping trips I carry a Leatherman Wave.

Most Spyderco knives are fully ambidextrous with a thumbhole instead of a stud for opening, and a 4 position clip so that you can carry the knife right or left handed, tip up or tip down. I'm pretty sure many Benchmade knives are similar, but I'm not that familiar with the Benchmade line.

Does anyone carry/own the Snap-On Kershaw/Ken Onion knives? The one with Snap-On written on the side is cool, but too pricey for me.

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...&group_ID=1063&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

I've got one. It's a fine knife. After going through several Gerber EZ-outs(plastic handles kept breaking), I decided I wanted a metal handled knife of some sort. While I prefer lockbacks, and have never really trusted liner locks, I went ahead and bought the Kershaw Scallion off the Snap-on truck. It really wasn't that much more, and if you figure in the gas driving up to Cabela's(about 30 miles round trip for me), it was even money.

I've got to say, I really like that little knife. I broke the blade on it and the blade lock on another. I figured I was boned and out another knife but the Snap-on man said they would warranty just about anything so they are both at Kershaw right now being fixed.

I took me a little while to trust the liner lock, but now I don't even give it a second thought(I had another brand of liner lock fold up on my finger and cut the hell out of me).

$50 to $60 bucks is about all I'm prepared to spend on a knife I use at work. They always get broke, bent, ran over, dumped in a chemical that eats the handle, ect, ect...

Man, this thread got me charged up. I THINK I lost my rainbow Onion Leek - though I have a way of recovering lost items weeks and months later in odd places! Anyway, after reading this thread I thought about buying a replacement but since it might show up, I bought a Chive in the polished black oxide finish. Can't wait for it to get here!

Can you say deep sh*t? It's odd, you can get a concealed carry permit in Michigan for a handgun, but get caught with a knife like yours and you're in for it.
