"Auto's are pretty much banned in any local town, only person's allowed to carry fully automatic knives are those in uniform, or military."

Auto knives can be carried in a lot of places, obviously you should check your state laws before doing so.

I wouldn't waste my time carrying a knife for self defense when you could get a concealed weapons permit and carry a firearm. I carry a knife daily, if I need it for self defense my gun jammed or I'm getting attacked by hordes of evil doers. What's screwed up is I can carry a concealed firearm in your state with my Florida permit but you cannot legally carry an auto knife.

Never bring a knife to a gunfight.

Just curious for all you Knife/Law guys. How serious is it to be caught with a switch blade? I was thinking about carrying one strictly for protection when we go downtown, etc. I want something that if I need it quick it's there. But if I were pulled over and happened to be search, I don't want to go to jail either.

I carry a fairly new Leatherman Blast. Got it about 3 years ago. I've cut a ton of things with it as well as used many of it's tools. Sharpens well and holds the edge for long time.

My other knife is a Swiss Army knife I received as a gift back in the 8th grade. I'm 30 years old now and after going thru hell and back, it will still shave you clean. Or if you are unfortunate enough, slice through your fingernail, remove the tip of your finger and you never know it. (Happened to me a few years back. Managed to get the tip reattached though lol)

Looks to be a Kershaw Wild Turkey. I own one of those, too. Great lookin design, not much for steel tho.

Good eye, thats what it is. Its been sitting in a box since I bought it, more as a collector item, not for use. Not sure how it holds an edge?

It is my understanding that in Ohio, the laws are written about locking blade knives of a certain length, whether or not they are auto-open (which we used to call "switchblades.") I have a Shrade-Walden flourescent orange paratrooper's knife which was issued by the US govt to pilots. It has a large switchblade, plus a hook blade. The hook is for cutting parachute cords, if you get tangled up in a tree, etc. The pilot I got it from carried it over the skies of Vietnam, but was never shot down. He told me that the switchblade was deemed necessary in case the pilot could not access the knife with both hands if he were tangled in cords...not for personal combat. For EDC I have a Stanley "box-cutter" knife, which is super convenient to change blades, and always very, very sharp.

Being a knife addict for many years, mad the hard decision of weeding down my collection to just two that'll stay with me until I pass it down. Yet again, like my Surefire, quality, bulletproof USA made stuff. You don't want to know the price I paid....I coulda bought a bunch of SO instead lol.
