Ill bite on this one! If i leave the house without any one of tgese 3 in my pockets, i might as well call in sick! Lol. Got gerber new in 2003-ish, perfect combo of stuff to get out of a jam, and was still made in usa then. Chesco 88045, what looks like standard hex key set, but wait...theres more! 3 flat screwdrivers, philips p1, pick/scratcher, and T10 torx bit. Love that one, use it the most. Lastly, just got off snap on truck to replace my lost miniscrewdriver is the PBMB5 mini pry bar! Favorite new all around tool ive gotten in a while...handy little sucker, and extra tough compared to little pocket flat screwdrivers.

I'm an aircraft mechanic, and I've been wearing a fanny pack full of pocket tools for as long as I can remember. Co workers make fun of me until they see how handy it is. And some of the older "pocket tools" look cool as hell.

Now that I'm retired I carry a Swiss Army Knife, and my cellphone has a built-in flashlight.

But when I did service work I carried alot of stuff (mostly thermostat-specific tools), in pocket protectors and pants pockets. I then started accumulating small tools that I thought might prove useful, but left them in a small box in the truck if needed. Wish I would have thought of the fanny-pack idea. (y)

One should not dismiss cross-purposing tools. Bicycle gear manufacturers have come up with alot of nifty, compact multi-tools for emergency road-side use, and much of those could serve other specialties. I've also found sewing tools, dental tools, and woman's nail care implements helpful as well.

For work, I had a Gerber multi-tool for the past few years and finally gave up on it a couple months ago when it seized up. Now I keep an old Leatherman in the leather pouch on my belt. The Leatherman belonged to my grandfather. I also decided to start carrying a 6" Diamond adjustable wrench. Based on the plain steel finish and lack of horseshoe mark, I am pretty sure it is from 1942-45.
