I want a drill bit set from 1/16"-1/2".. The bigger the set the better. I think I want cobalt drills.. I'll be drilling mostly metal, sometimes wood. I want them to last and be sharpenable because I'll eventually get a drill doctor. Can someone point me in the right direction? I'll spend over $100 but I don't want to spend much more than that.

Cobalt drills are nice but you wont get much for $100 and they do not resharpen with a drill doctor very well. A nice set of black oxide high speed steel will do well for almost anybody. When you go shopping stay away from the yellow titanium ones like the plague. go to the mcmaster carr catalog or msc industrial supply and get a good set
