Pole Barn Builders in New England?

After a 2 year ordeal getting my house built it looks like I might finally have the opportunity to build a detached garage. I had originally hoped to do both at the same time, but it wasn’t in the cards. Unfortunately in that time, the builder I was originally going to go with has decided to no longer build in Massachusetts (they were out of PA and I can’t blame them for not wanting to build this far up). So now I’m on the hunt for a new builder and I’m hoping the collective expertise of this board can float some recommendations.

Trying to keep costs reasonable which is why I’m going with the pole barn. Prefab is unfortunately out of the question because of access to where it will be built. I talked to Morton a few years ago and got a quote, no surprise that they’re at the upper end of pricing. I also know of Circle B Barns, but from what I’ve read, they’re also at the upper end (although I’ll get them to quote as well). Would love to get additional recommendations outside of the “pole barns Massachusetts” google results I’ve been scouring through. If you’re aware of or have any experience with pole barn builders in the area, please chime in.

i had morton buildings do a large building (81X157) for me 2000. while not the cheapest option, it is exceptionally well built, and has given me no trouble at all. they even came back and extended the roof and added an additional shed along one side. from the outside, you would never know there was an addition. i recently moved some spare panels that were left over when they built the original building. i compared one of them to the outside wall, and there was no observable color difference. it is also a building i dont have to paint, which is a big plus.

i dealt with ken in the NH office that covers me (and likely you in stoneham). i would suggest giving them a call, and tell them the what you are looking for.

unless you are married to the look of the gambrel roof, i would suggest just specifying what kind of floor space you are look for on how many floors, and see what comes back, no matter who you ask.

i will note that i dont really consider what you show in your attached image as a two story building, more of a 1 story with a finished attic.

A52 - Good point with the second story - I'm not married to the gambrel roof, I'm just trying to get as much usable space out of the "attic" as I can. I suppose a flatter pitched roof would do the same.

I think I talked to Ken 2 years ago - he was really responsive and easy to deal with. It's great to hear you've had a good experience with Morton locally. They obviously have a great reputation when it comes to the quality of their buildings, I also like that they're using their version of perma columns in standard installations. They're definitely on my list to get a quote from.

While not fully signed and delivered yet, conservation commission has signed off on my general plans for the garage - for my property that's a big win. Still have to wait for the final hearing and sign off, but all signs point to the positive.

Still looking for builder recommendations, so please chime in if you have any.
