I am the new owner of an FBI 50X80 pole barn. It has a heated concrete floor and the inside is finished with the same steel as the outside. The walls are insulated with Fiberglass. The ceiling is covered with corrugated steel and has no insulation. I am reaching out for some input in what product i should use. My first choice was 13 inches of blown in cellulose. Thanks for any input you could provide.

My brother did blown in on top of his steel ceiling as well. Good choice unless you want to take down the ceiling and roll it in.

Where are you located? Most heat lost is in the ceiling. Celulous is cheap when blown in yourself. You can rent from menards the tool. Does it have a vapor barrier of any kind? If not then consider that or things can rot in the future from condensation. Vapor barrier goes towards the living space. So you could lay plastic down and the. Blow in the insulation.

Or spray foam closed cell -expensive but it is a vapor barrier when over 2 inches thick, is R7 per inch thick and it seals everything tight. My shop has 3 on the ceiling and 2 on the walls.

As much as I dislike the stuff, blown in cellulose is probably the best bang for the buck unless you can front the cash for spray foam.

I'd suggest marking the location of the light fixtures for future reference and having a scuttle hole big enough to get through easily.
