Looking for contractor info, as I'm planning on building a 40x60x14 barn with a 10x30x10 lean-to. Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with any of the local companies? I talked with a guy on here from the Saginaw area that said Midwest Pole Barns built his at a good price, but never cleaned up after themselves and put the doors in the wrong spots! Looking for info on "Artfully Crafted Polebarns", "PolebarnsDirect.com", or any other recommended contractors that'll come in at a decent price. Talked to Chelsea Lumber, their price seemed to come back on the high side.

Also in the Sun Times (a local community paper) there's a weekly ad for Virgil Clark Construction, ph 734.323.9521 who specifically advertises pole barns.

A third option would be to ring up Fingerle Lumber and ask for 3 names of people.

Armed with your specs/sketches and a site visit you should be able to get some prices. Also you have to decide whether you want good, fast or cheap, you may pick 2 :)

I know nothing of these people or their work, I built my building with only 1 contractor to finish the concrete floor.

I used chelsea lumber for our barn. It is a 30x40x12 with a 12x40 lean to. I had a great experience with them. They have a list of contractors that they use and we used one of them with great results. The only real issue was the schedule. It slipped a couple of times, but mainly due to weather and other jobs.

Free delivery, top notch materials, and can install.
Mine was a 30' x72', even the inspector was impressed with plans and material quality.

A couple of years ago, we used Pioneer Pole Buildings headquartered in Clare, MI but they have builders located regionally that actually construct it. I would have them build another one in a heartbeat. Ours is 42'x48'x14' with a 9'x24' porch on the side opposite my garage doors. 12" overhang all the way around and 6/12 trusses instead of 4/12 just because I wanted it to look as much like a traditional barn as possible. 1 - 9'x8' garage door, 1 - 16'x8' garage door, 1 - 12'x13' garage door, 4 windows, and 1 man door for under 30K. There's a couple pics of it in my album.
