Pole Barn Commercial Girt question...

Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question, but something doesn't make sense to me. When building a Pole Barn utilizing the 'commercial girt' method with the girts between each post instead of on the outside of each post, how does the top outside 2x10 Truss support integrate with the building siding material?

I would like to sheet my building with OSB, then run wood panel siding. The commercial girt method works great for this, until I get up to the top truss support and I have a 1.5" thick board that I can't run my siding over...how does this detail work? Am I missing something? Can you notch the outside of the 6x6 so that the outside truss support sits flush with the post?

Yes, that is what should be done. Loads of the 2x10 are then transferred to the post directly and not to fasteners and then the posts. Outer face of 2x10 sits flush w/ outer face of posts, and outer face of wall girts. This "face" is known as the "building line".

Thanks for clearing that up, and thanks for the help on terminology. I suppose I will kind-of sound like I know what I'm talking about when I talk to the inspector.

Cheers!
