pole barn concrete needs to support lift

A few questions. One I need the concrete to later support a car lift. So, should I have that spot poured thicker? I've heard to put a plate of steel down 3/4 inch and the the concrete to be poured over on the part I will add the lift too.
Then also heard to have it poured in sections to prevent cracking. Seems we have many mini earthquakes out here in Oklahoma these days.

The soil is fairly sandy, guy who is going to do estimate on it wants to poure 5" concrete.
