Are you asking about an concrete apron outside the entrance?

If so, you want 5" or so of crushed, compacted base and another 5" of concrete sloped about 1/8" per foot up to your slab floor.

After doing all that is it still too low?

My slab on the inside is going to be around 20 inches high at entrance. I think I'm going to have to have a ramp leading into building. The floor inside is sloped toward the entrance.

Better high than too low.

Why is it so high?

Sounds like you are going to have to put down compacted fill down 1st before you get to that 5" base and 5' concrete.

How long is the building? A 20 inch drop in 30 feet would be almost unusable, a 20 inch drop in 50 feet would be...well, not as bad.

I've been in a warehouse that had that kind of door setup. The entire floor of the warehouse was at dock truck level and they had one door at ground/parking lot level for forklifts to go outside. There was a concrete ramp inside the building starting at the door and sloped up to the interior floor level.

You'd have to have railings surrounding the ramp sides for safety.

you state that from the middle of the floor to the door slopes 20" and then at the door you have a 20" lip. I don't think your explaining yourself correctly to get your answer because by your description your main floor is 40" above grade of you foundation.

Assuming the standard 1/4" per foot slope, and your specified 20" slope for half the building.... your building is 160 ft long, front to back!

Is the final door height going to be at the bottom of your siding? If so, bring up the grade at the front.
