I am building my first pole barn shed 24x12 with flat low pitch roof and will use either 4x4 or 6x6 pressure treated posts. I plan on hiring a tractor w auger to drill 4 foot deep holes for my poles. Should I simply dump a bag of sacrete into hole and add some water and 24 hrs later I have a footer or do I need something mlore elaborate?
A contractor friend in Maine receommended 2 foot diameter hole and backfill around pole w 3/4 inch stone. Is this a better approach than 12 inch hole and backfill w concrete. I am building in CA in very hard compacted clay earth
