Pole barn garage door framing question

Is it standard practice to install 2x6's on the inside of my post for garage door hardware in my pole building like is usually done conventional framing or does the garage door hardware just mount directly to the post?

12X12 doors, 4 ply laminated post.

just another quick question, is it acceptable to use just regular 16D framing nails for attaching purlins to the post (laminated) and trusses? Its what I used but I can add ring shank to each before I install my metal.

Yes they can mount to post. If header is not solid you will need to fill in were torsion springs need to mount in center of door

Yes it is,i prefer to use 3"irk screws
