Pole barn header fasteners in Michigan

Hi all,
I've been searching a lot and I'm struggling to find any answers. It's also tough to get in touch with the building inspector here.

I live in west michigan and I'm putting an addition on my pole barn. I currently have the headers through bolted with 2 1/2" bolts per post. I was hoping to use the 6" 5/16 GRK structural screws to install the new headers into the posts. I'm having a hard time finding out how many to use for each post, or if this will even pass code. I believe ring shank nails would have passed code, but I really prefer screws to nails and have heard the GRK structural screws are stronger than the nails/easier to install.

I appreciate any insights!

I'm not a builder so take this for what it's worth, but I did have a pole barn built last year in S.E. Michigan. My header is attached with 2 or 3 GRK screws to the post ( I would have to confirm how many when I get home), and there is an additional 2 ft 2x4 block under it that has 3 GRK screws in it.

Thank you for the response! I'd love to see a photo of how they are attached/what the 2x4 block looks like.

Michigan And Florida too!
You really need to get in touch with your AHJ. My county was really easy to work with on my pole barn. You might have to wait a day for an answer but you'll get the correct answer instead of speculation.

There aren't any prescriptive codes for pole barns, so my county required an engineer stamped design. My engineer spec'd 2x through bolts (i think 5/8"- its been a while) through the pole and truss carriers.
