Im putting up my barn pole and I have a question with the header.. I am using 2x10s 16 foot long. Doing a 30x30.I am not sure if im thinking right here but im going to double up the 2x10 on the truss side one on the outside and one and the inside and bolt them though the 6x6. So I only need a single one on the outside of the non truss wall?

That is how my pole building is put together. Seems to be fairly standard from what I have seen.

There's no need for a header on the non truss carrying sides. For carrying the trusses, I notched the post for the header so that not only the bolt is carrying the weight

My shop just built only has header on the truss loaded side. And My posts are notched and the header thru bolted to it. My header is 2x10's nailed togehter

Pole barns don't have headers. The roof is supported by the poles.

This is true, however some building inspectors still require a normal header. I would ask the inspector what he wants so you don't have to redo it, or fail an inspection.

Around here the posts are typically 8' o.c., and the trusses 4' o.c.. Truss supports are needed between the post spans.

Loading requirements here would require a double 2x12 to carry the trusses if the posts are 8' o.c. None are needed on the gable ends if you are using a structural gable truss, not the standard residential gable without webs.
