I started building my barn last year. Finally finished up the inside and almost done insulating. Its 56x36x14 with scissor trusses. I have a 12x56 loft on the south end and my work bench and tool chests are under their. I originally was going to go with a radiant tube, but then was set on a unit heater. Now I'm back and forth. What are your options. Its insulated with 6' wide vinyl back insulation r13 whole building i may add another r19 in the ceiling. Housewrap on the outside to help with wind. I want to put a 36k mini split in to keep it at 45 in the winter and help cool it a little in the summer and I want to bring it up ton65-70 when I'm out there with a secondary heat which will be mainly on the weekends. What are the pros and cons of a forced air unit heater vs a radiant tube?

Showtime - need for information. Is there concrete for floor? If bare dirt don't waste your money on hvac until that changes.

36k isn't going to be enough for that size and depending on location you'll pay through the teeth for hyperheat.

There is a lot of info and opinions around about forced vs radiant tube heat. Mines radiant tube but was there when I bought the place. I like it because it doesn't take long to heat up and makes tools and everything the same temperature. If I had to replace it I might go force flow mainly because the units are a lot more common and decently priced.
