OK I'm looking at having a 28 x 40 pole barn built. Where I want it built the ground is 3ft lower in the. Back than the front.
If they build it up with stome and the poles go in the ground 4ft, there will only be a ft of dirt in the back?

My opinion, level the site either by filling or cutting (and cut wider to prevent soil against an outside wall). If intending to keep the slope you are pretty much forced into a concrete foundation.

You build it with the ground. The poles on the low side may need to be longer than those on the high side. Once it's done, you fill with stone to level the floor and build up the outside as needed to access the doors. Some people use sand to fill, but I think it washes too easy.
