I’m about ready to hang a new 80,000 btu Big Maxx in my shop area, and looking at venting through the wall. The wall is standard pole barn metal with the 2” roll vapor insulation, and then will have the same type of metal on the interior wall. First can a termination such as this be mounted straight to the exterior panel ? f1b7676398f7fd91253fd5751ab08840.jpg

Also should I box in a 10 x 10 area between the girt boards for a wall thimble, then put the wall metal over the thimble or the thimble over the interior wall metal ? Her is a pic of the wall prior to interior metal. c4449c67b995d45a0d547ece9f5149dd.jpg

try using a termination T if your going with z-vent....the hood may work with or without damper ....but i am not sure that would be code
you should make some sort of box to support the thimble 10/10 should work....2 inch clearance to combustible's
do you have soffit on the side you are venting from?...avalanche effect of snow on metal roof is a *****

No “codes” here , but the main reason for the damper would be to keep mud daubers out of the vent when not used, the other vents only have bird screens. As for the over hang it’s the standard 2” over hang on a standard pole barn.

CJseven,
I had the same issue. I fabricated a "box" to protect the wall insulation. Then ran the wall thimble pipe thru it to the outside. I bent the flashing on the outside vent to match the corrugated metal outside. The vent has a grate built in for birds, for the daubers I used a piece of styrofoam when not in use.
