Pole Barn Insulation Details

I could use some insulation advice for my 20x24 pole barn. It is actually a 20x24 addition to my existing 20x24 pole barn. I don't have any plans to insulate the old half. For this year, I may just get my metal ceiling up and insulated.

So here are some concerns.

1 - On the old part of the barn, the T-111 LP SmartSide joints were caulked during assembly. This was not done on the new half. The joints were fairly well done, but I'm sure air gets through. What are my options? Perhaps just caulk as best I can from the inside? I imagine the fancy "rubber" window installation tape would work, but that would get pricey. I may put foam insulation board between the girts - that would probably seal the airflow, but maybe trap moisture? I expect to stud the walls at some point in the future.

2 - My trusses are 48" on center. I will need some sort of baffle to keep the blown insulation out of the soffits. After some googling, it seems 24" strips of sheet material against the upper truss board is common for 48" on center trusses. What would the best material be (perhaps minimize sag)? Luan, 3/8 ply, 3/8 OSB, or something else? I would need to do something for the 5 inch gap at the "bottom" - perhaps just staple leftover plastic from the ceiling?

3 - Not sure the correct name, but the two 2x14 boards that sandwich the top of the posts leaves a 6" gap (directly below would be my eventual studded wall) between the soffit and the ceiling. Does it make sense to top that with plywood to seal between my eventual studded wall and the soffit? And then stuff 6" insulation below. Perhaps foam insulation board on top would be better than plywood?

I have a few pics to attach, one with some scrap T-111 held to where the 24" plywood baffle would go.

Thanks,

Jim
