Hello! I did look around a bit to see if this was already discussed but didn’t see anything specific to what I have. I had a 32x44 pole barn built. There was no house wrap installed unfortunately. I have quite a bit of 2” Rockwool comfortboard left over from another job.

My question is am I ok putting the comfortboard against the interior girts? In other words from outside to inside would be metal siding, 1.5” vented air gap, girts themselves, then Rockwool comfortboard resting on the girts. Will this present any problems? I’m in Delaware which is zone 4 climate, humidity etc.

This is mainly a workshop and not temperature controlled year round. I did ask ChatGPT and google but was getting mixed answers. Thank you in advance!

Neither can get to the gaps, thankfully. Thanks for the reply. 👍

Mainly, I wanted to make sure I didn’t need rigid foam or the like first as a barrier before the Rockwool. But I feel like it’ll be ok with the 1.5” air gap?

I've seen *it used in residential home construction on the exterior wall sheathing then strapping for the siding.
* I'm not 100% if it was "comfort board" vs a special exterior name, but it looks exactly the same. I think you have a great idea especially when it's leftovers!
Look one YouTube for something. The builder used it as part of the whole wall insulation value without additional wall depth/thickness.
The manufacturer should have something on its site about this use and I don't really see a difference between what you propose and what they did other than the 1 1/2" air gap.
