Hellos, I am new to this site and have been reading a lot of your posts on pole barn insulation, which is the stage I'm at now. My barn has just been constructed, 30x60 and I still cannot figure out what to insulate it with. My place is in northern MI. I plan on making a 20x30 man cave within which will be heated by a wood burner. There was no prior vapor barrier installed during construction. I plan on framing it out with 2x4s, although I'm not so handy. Anyways, my question/confusion is: do I need to put anything up before framing in or can I frame in, then put my batts 15 in and then seal that with a plastic, which would be my vapor barrier. Or do a vapor barrier have to go in before studding/insulation. Any help would
Be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am working on a pole barn here in DE. I decided to frame my walls with 2x6s 16" OC so I could use R-19 batts. I opted to use faced insulation. I do not have any kind of other vapor barrier, etc. besides the insulation. In retrospect, I probably should have installed house wrap to help with air infiltration, but it is only a garage after all. For my ceiling I out 2x4s under the bottom cord of the trusses 24"OC so I could hang drywall. To insulate the ceiling I opted for blown fiberglass(R-30).
