Hey all!! Don't be to harsh on me, I know this topic has more than likely been talked about a bunch and this is a little long winded so bear with me. Just looking for some insight on the materiel I have installed (pro's & con's) and the things I am planning on doing down the road. I have a 35'x48" pole barn. When we bought the place the original owner had already started insulating using 4" foam board with reflective face facing inside on the walls covered with half inch plywood. 2 summers ago I went ahead and finished what he started using the same materials. This fall I used 1" foam board reflective faced on the ceiling nailing it to the purlins. They were on their side so I have about a 3.5" space between the foam board and the meatal. I also blocked the ends of the building off at the ceiling with plywood strips leaving about a 2" gap either side of each purling so air could still flow before I put up the foam board. Now my worry is with condensation in the walls or ceiling after reading about how pole barns are pretty leaky in the spring and fall. The ceiling did have an old vapor barrier on it but was pretty dry an flaky. I currently run a 110,000 btu heater to get it up to about 68 degrees and use a MR Heater 30,000 btu to help hold the temp for about an hour before needing to kick the torpedo heater back on again. My plan is to install a Mr. Heater 50,000 Big Max so with it and the 30,000 I shouldn't have to kick the torpedo heater back on after I warm the building up. Any constructive criticism is much appreciated as I am here to learn form all the professionals on the forum. O I am located in southern ohio btw. Thanks in advance fellas!!!
