Hi Folks,

I have a spanking new 36 x 50 pole barn. It's not fancy as the intended use is equipment storage and basic equipment maintenance.

I have uninsulated walls ( just the steel sheeting ) and I'm concerned I may bump them as I move stuff about. It's actually likely to happen and at the floor is the danger zone. I have Morton Building as well and the have a wooden panel from the floor to the first girt. I was thinking of adding this feature myself as an afterthought.

I have the 1.5" gap to work with between the poles and the sheeting. I was thinking about a 1/2" sheet of plywood cut to height but the poles are 10' apart so I'd have to figure out some way to tie them together?

Any better ideas out there?

Purchase 1x4 or 1x6 pressure treated lumber. Chamfer the top edge at 45* to dress the baseboard up. I installed several hundred feet of this in my shop and it turned out well. Plywood when damp or in contact with the concrete my deteriorate over time.

So they used the bottom girt as the form for the floor concrete?

I'd just slot in another 2x6, ends behind the posts, All the way around.

Building department here required 4” of board above the concrete. The why I do not know why but just added another 2x8” on top all the way around.
Is there anything between the boards and sheet metal? Treated boards will eat the metal.
