I am considering building a 24x30x12 pole barn. I would like to do it myself but I have no idea where to go about getting plans, material lists etc....Is there a company that sells kits or plans? I have a lot of material left over from the Linwood home I built and would like to use it. How do I go about figuring out what I need? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this will be my first attempt at building anything like this.

You can buy plans online, but good luck on materials lists...I never found one and I looked for 6 months. The materials list will vary by every building/company/location. They go off what is available in your area, what costs less(them not you) and meets specs for your area. I would go to local lumber yards/Lowes/HD and see what they have before dealing over the net.

Try 84 Lumber. I Bought & Built 2 Bldgs. From Them & Put A 24 X 36 X8 Up By Myself Including Each 26 Ft. Truss. The Other Was A 24 X 24 X10. My Son & I Put It Up. The First Was 20 Yrs. Ago & Second Was 18 Yrs.ago.

Menards has a kiosk with a computer that allows you to design the whole barn and then print a "Materials List". You can take that list to the Lumber counter and they'll price it out.

You can try Lowes at the Commercial Lumber desk, but I have found mine slow to return calls with the info I wanted. At one time Lowes sold a book on building out-buildings, look for that too.

PS: If you have room go bigger, I never thought I would fill a 30 X 48 but I have...:shocking:
